Autogenous dentin grafting has become a revolutionary tool in tooth regeneration, providing several key benefits as a graft material. With this innovative technique, Dr. Tadros and the team at Dental Implant Solutionz can improve outcomes from extractions, enhance implant stability, and preserve your smile.
Read on to learn more about autogenous dentin grafting and how it works for tooth regeneration.
What is Autogenous Dentin Grafting?
Autogenous dentin grafting is the process of transforming extracted teeth into an autologous, bacteria-free grafting particulate. This material can be used as a bone graft material to prevent bone resorption after extractions and improve dental implant stability to prevent future issues, like shifting.
To perform this technique, we first clean the extracted tooth. Next, we insert it into a specialized device called the Smart Dentin Grinder to grind it into particulate dentin and sort it. We then cleanse, rinse, and dry the particulate dentin. At this stage, it’s ready for grafting.
What Are the Benefits of Autogenous Dentin Grafting?
Autogenous dentin grafting provides numerous benefits for our extraction and implant patients, including:
- Lower bone graft cost when compared to traditional bone grafting, which is more complex
- Rapid bone healing and soft tissue response, facilitating a quicker recovery process
- No risk of rejection, inflammation, disease transmission, or fast resorption, as the patient’s own tooth is used
- Improved implant stability to prevent reoperation and future complications
- Preserves the patient’s smile by preventing bone resorption and shrinkage, which affect aesthetics
- Protects the extraction site and surrounding teeth against damage
- Prepares the extraction site for follow-up procedures, which saves time
Autogenous dentin grafting lowers the costs and risks associated with bone grafting while bolstering the jawbone and preventing future complications. We’re proud to offer this innovative treatment to our Largo patients! Contact us today to schedule an appointment.
