If you’ve ever battled periodontal (gum) disease, you know just how detrimental it can be to the life of your smile. Without the right care, infection can spread deeper into your gum tissue and bone, causing teeth to become mobile and even fall out. Before we have to extract diseased teeth and replace them with dental implants, you should know that there’s an alternative periodontal surgery: LANAP
What is LANAP?
LANAP is Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, which sterilizes infected gum tissues, destroys bacteria, and helps healthy gums reattach to the teeth in a short period of time. Our Largo dentist has been a LANAP provider since 2011!
LANAP=Laser Assisted Regeneration (LAR). An FDA-cleared laser treatment called LANAP protocol offers a less painful, more successful treatment alternative to conventional surgery. LANAP=LAR is the only scientifically, research proven methodology that results in true periodontal regeneration, new bone growth and gum tissue reattachment. LANAP treatment is one of the most successful protocols in treating gum disease because it can target the source of the inflammation without harming or removing any healthy gum tissue, slow or stop attachment loss and decrease pocket depth, and allowing the body to recover from the chronic infection without the need for scalpel or sutures.

Symptoms of Gum Disease
How can you know whether or not you have periodontal disease? During your exam, we will assess your x-rays for signs of bone loss, and perform a screening to measure attachment levels around each tooth. If the pockets under your gums reach a certain depth, we will recommend a deep cleaning to eliminate the infection.
You might have periodontitis if you experience symptoms like:
- Bad breath (halitosis)
- Gums that bleed easily when you brush or floss
- Swollen, red, or purple gums
- Tooth mobility
- Receding gumlines (“long teeth”)
What to Expect
Most LANAP treatments are broken up into two visits, with us completing one half of the mouth at one time, alongside of traditional scaling and root planing. This helps your tissues respond better to the therapy to prevent any additional loss of bone or soft tissue attachment.
If you’ve had a history of gum disease, or are experiencing symptoms of infection – call Dental Implant Solutionz to find out how convenient and effective our laser LANAP option can help! Prices start at just $980 per quadrant. No referrals necessary.
